Method
- Open the crescent roll dough and divide it into 4 rectangles. Press the perforated lines together to form 4 solid rectangles.
- Use a pizza cutter to slice each rectangle into 12 thin strips.
- Wrap approximately 6 dough strips around each hot dog, spiraling from top to bottom and back to create a mummy shape.
- Place the wrapped hot dogs on a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat.
- Bake at 375º F for 9 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and serve warm.
- For the Spiderweb Dipping Sauce: In a small round container, spread an even layer of ketchup.
- Shake the mustard bottle and squeeze a thin spiral of mustard onto the ketchup, starting from the center and moving outward.
- Use a toothpick to draw lines from the center of the spiral to the outer edge of the bowl, creating a spiderweb effect.
- Serve the sauce with your mummy dogs.
Notes
These sauces were created out of necessity one Halloween when the mummy dogs needed a little something extra. They quickly became a party favorite, proving that simple additions can make a big impact.
