Ingredients

For the Mummy Dogs
  • 1 8 oz tube crescent roll dough
  • 8 hot dogs
For the Spiderweb Dipping Sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • mustard in a squeeze bottle

Equipment

  • Pizza Cutter
  • cookie sheet
  • silicone baking mat
  • small round container
  • squeeze bottle
  • toothpick

Method

  1. Open the crescent roll dough and divide it into 4 rectangles. Press the perforated lines together to form 4 solid rectangles.
  2. Use a pizza cutter to slice each rectangle into 12 thin strips.
  3. Wrap approximately 6 dough strips around each hot dog, spiraling from top to bottom and back to create a mummy shape.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on a cookie sheet lined with a silicone baking mat.
  5. Bake at 375º F for 9 to 12 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and serve warm.
  7. For the Spiderweb Dipping Sauce: In a small round container, spread an even layer of ketchup.
  8. Shake the mustard bottle and squeeze a thin spiral of mustard onto the ketchup, starting from the center and moving outward.
  9. Use a toothpick to draw lines from the center of the spiral to the outer edge of the bowl, creating a spiderweb effect.
  10. Serve the sauce with your mummy dogs.

Notes

These sauces were created out of necessity one Halloween when the mummy dogs needed a little something extra. They quickly became a party favorite, proving that simple additions can make a big impact.
