Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 4 6-ounce Salmon fillets skin on
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice fresh
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper freshly ground
For the Herb Topping
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh chives chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic minced

Equipment

  • Cedar plank
  • Grill
  • Small bowl
  • Knife
  • Cutting board

Method

  1. Soak the cedar plank in water for at least 30 minutes. This prevents it from burning on the grill.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400-450°F or 200-230°C).
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place the salmon fillets, skin-side down, on the soaked cedar plank.
  5. Brush the olive oil mixture evenly over the salmon fillets.
  6. In the same small bowl, combine the chopped dill, parsley, chives, and minced garlic.
  7. Sprinkle the herb mixture over the salmon.
  8. Place the cedar plank with the salmon directly on the preheated grill.
  9. Close the grill lid and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the fillets and your grill's temperature.
  10. Carefully remove the cedar plank from the grill. Serve the salmon directly from the plank.

You can adjust the herbs to your preference. Other good options include thyme, rosemary, or basil. Ensure your cedar plank is fully submerged during soaking to prevent flare-ups.
