Ingredients

For the Agua Fresca
  • 2 medium cucumbers peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice from about 3-4 limes
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar or to taste
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup ice cubes
For Garnish (Optional)
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced cucumber
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Fine mesh sieve
  • Pitcher

Method

  1. Combine the chopped cucumbers, lime juice, sugar, and 4 cups of water in a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.
  3. Stir in the ice cubes until well combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  4. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve over ice, garnished with cucumber slices and mint leaves if desired.

Notes

You can adjust the amount of sugar to your preference. For a less sweet drink, use less sugar or a sugar substitute. You can also add a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors.
