Method
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the 3 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add the package of marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated with the marshmallow mixture.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a buttered spatula or your hands to press the mixture evenly into the pan.
- Let the treats cool for at least 15 minutes.
- While the treats are cooling, prepare the candy melts. In separate microwave-safe bowls, melt the white, blue, and red candy melts according to package directions. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vegetable shortening into each bowl to make them smoother for drizzling.
- Once the treats have cooled and set, cut them into squares or rectangles.
- Drizzle the melted candy melts over the treats in a firecracker pattern. Use a toothpick or skewer to create swirls and lines.
- Immediately sprinkle the blue, red, and white sprinkles over the wet candy melts.
- Allow the candy melts to harden completely before serving.
Notes
You can also use food coloring to tint the melted white chocolate if you don't have colored candy melts. For a stronger firecracker effect, you can add a few drops of red and blue food coloring to the white candy melts and swirl them together before drizzling.
