Method
- Remove the crusts from your bread slices. Lightly butter one side of each slice.
- Place the bread slices, butter side down, in a 9x13 baking dish. Cover the bottom of the pan completely, cutting pieces to fit like a puzzle if needed.
- Sprinkle the shredded Jack and cheddar cheeses evenly over the bread. Layer the browned sausage over the cheese, followed by the green chiles.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk the eggs. Add the milk and all seasonings. Combine well. Whisk one final time and immediately pour the mixture evenly over the assembled casserole.
- Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, preheat your oven to 350℉. Bake the strata uncovered for 50-60 minutes, or until the center is puffed and set, and the edges are golden brown.
- Let the strata cool for about 10 minutes before serving.

Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days. To reheat leftovers more evenly, cut your piece of casserole into smaller pieces before microwaving.
