Ingredients

For the Frappuccino
  • 2 cups strong brewed coffee, frozen into ice cubes about 14 ice cubes or one ice cube tray full
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp. sugar or to taste
  • 1.5 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 0.25 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. instant coffee granules optional, for stronger coffee flavor
Optional Topping
  • 1 whipped cream if desired

Equipment

  • High-powered blender
  • Ice cube tray
  • Microwave

Method

  1. Place the coffee ice cubes, milk, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, salt, and optional instant coffee granules in a high-powered blender.
  2. Blend until the ice cubes are crushed and the mixture is smooth.
  3. If the mixture is difficult to blend, let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then try blending again.
  4. Pour the blended mixture into glasses.
  5. Top with whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

If you do not have a high-powered blender, you can soften the coffee ice cubes slightly in the microwave on the defrost setting for about 45 seconds. Be careful not to melt them too much, as this can result in a runny frappe.
