- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Cream together the brown sugar, butter, and white sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir this mixture into the sugar mixture until it is well blended.
- Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, walnuts (if using), and coconut until everything is evenly distributed in the dough.
- Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes for a chewy cookie or 14 minutes for a firmer cookie.
- Cool the cookies for 1 minute on the cookie sheets, then move them to a wire rack. Cool completely before you store them in a tightly sealed container.
Notes
This recipe makes 30 cookies. You can adjust the baking time slightly depending on whether you prefer a chewier or firmer texture in your finished cookie.
