  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Cream together the brown sugar, butter, and white sugar in a large bowl until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir this mixture into the sugar mixture until it is well blended.
  5. Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, walnuts (if using), and coconut until everything is evenly distributed in the dough.
  6. Drop the dough by rounded spoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes for a chewy cookie or 14 minutes for a firmer cookie.
  7. Cool the cookies for 1 minute on the cookie sheets, then move them to a wire rack. Cool completely before you store them in a tightly sealed container.

Notes

This recipe makes 30 cookies. You can adjust the baking time slightly depending on whether you prefer a chewier or firmer texture in your finished cookie.
