Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 to 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 package (16 ounces) frozen Tater Tots
  • 1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
  • 2/3 cup 2% milk or water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground meat and chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper to your preference.
  3. Transfer the cooked meat mixture to a greased 2-quart baking dish.
  4. Arrange the frozen Tater Tots evenly over the meat mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the condensed cream of mushroom soup with the milk or water. Pour this mixture over the Tater Tots.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  7. Bake, uncovered, for 30-40 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
